Assistant Teacher

An Assistant Teacher for Mesabi Preschool Academy LLC will help create a foundation for a lifetime of learning for students 6 weeks to kindergarten age that promotes independence, creativity, curiosity, and problem solving, while in a nurturing and safe/secure environment. An Assistant Teacher should enjoy working with children and want to provide the students at Mesabi Preschool Academy LLC with the best possible experience while encouraging them to reach their maximum potential. 

 

Hours: Monday - Friday; as scheduled between 6:30a - 5:30p

Starting Wage: $14.50 per hour

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

The Assistant Teacher’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to: 

• Assisting the Lead Teacher with meeting the needs of individual children

• Communicating with parents about their child’s development and activities

• Participating in trainings and staff meetings

• Interacting with children to support and enrich learning and play

• Implementing activities and preparing materials

• Assisting the Lead Teacher with assessments

• Maintaining a safe, loving, and clean learning environment

• Assisting children in self-care routines such as dressing for outside, diapering, feeding, etc.

• Assist and participate with the day to day operations in various classrooms, outside activities, etc. 

 

Qualifications

• Candidates must be qualified under Rule 3, a combination of college credits AND experience in a childcare setting. They must meet state requirements for the position for which they are applying. State requirements can be found at: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/rules?id=9503.0032.

• Must possess valid CPR/First Aid certifications;

• Ability to pass a background check;

• Organized, self-driven, reliable, and trustworthy; 

• A positive and compassionate attitude is a must!
